1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Pythia (“the Service”), operated at pythia.ink, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

You must be at least 16 years of age to use Pythia. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

2. Description of Service

Pythia is an AI-powered screenwriting assistant that provides:

  • Script parsing and analysis for .fountain, .fdx, and .fadein file formats
  • AI-powered screenplay analysis through multiple theoretical frameworks
  • AI chat functionality for discussing your scripts
  • Writing motivation tools including streaks, achievements, and prompts
  • Version tracking and progress metrics

BYOK Model: AI features require you to provide your own API key from supported providers (OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.). You are responsible for any costs incurred from your AI provider.

3. User Accounts

  • Registration: You must create an account to use most features. You agree to provide accurate information.
  • Security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys.
  • One Account: Each person may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts is prohibited.
  • Account Sharing: You may not share your account or credentials with others.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Pythia only for lawful purposes related to screenwriting. You must NOT:

  • Upload content that infringes on intellectual property rights
  • Use the Service to generate illegal, harmful, or abusive content
  • Attempt to circumvent security measures or access other users' data
  • Use automated tools or bots to access the Service excessively
  • Share, sell, or transfer your API keys through the platform
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code from the Service
  • Use the Service in any way that could damage or overburden our infrastructure

5. Intellectual Property

Your Content

You retain full ownership of all scripts and creative content you upload to Pythia. We claim no intellectual property rights over your screenplays, treatments, or any other creative work.

By uploading content, you grant us a limited licence to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service (parsing, analysis, storage). This licence terminates when you delete your content or account.

Our Platform

The Pythia platform, including its design, code, features, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the platform without our written permission.

6. AI Features and Limitations

  • BYOK Responsibility: When you provide your own API key, you are responsible for all costs charged by your AI provider. We have no control over pricing or billing from third-party AI services.
  • AI Provider Terms: Your use of AI features is also subject to the terms of your chosen AI provider (OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.).
  • Not Professional Advice: AI analysis and suggestions are provided for informational and creative purposes only. They do not constitute professional screenwriting advice or guarantee commercial success.
  • No Guarantees: We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of AI-generated content. AI outputs may contain errors or biases.
  • Your Responsibility: You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI outputs. Final creative decisions remain yours.

7. Payment Terms

Subscription Plans

  • Free Tier: Limited features at no cost
  • Pro Monthly: £19 per month
  • Pro Annual: £190 per year (save £38)

Prices are shown in British Pounds (GBP) and are inclusive of any applicable taxes.

Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually)
  • Payment is processed securely through Stripe
  • Your subscription will automatically renew unless cancelled

Cancellation

  • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings
  • Upon cancellation, you retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period
  • After your billing period ends, your account will revert to the Free tier

Refunds

We generally do not offer refunds for subscription payments. However, if you experience technical issues that prevent you from using the Service, please contact us at support@pythia.ink and we will work with you to find a fair resolution.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We do not guarantee that AI features will produce accurate, complete, or useful results.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR CREATIVE WORK, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability for any claims arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

  • By You: You may delete your account at any time through your settings. This will permanently delete all your data.
  • By Us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in behaviour that harms other users or our Service.
  • Effect: Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately. We may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. For significant changes affecting your rights, we will also send an email notification. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
